England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Zermatt Silver
2007 HSE MOT pass / front wishbone bushes

happy to say the car went through another MOT, its third since I bought it, all passes 165,040 on the clock. just checked my previous cars, I make that 10 straight passes in a row ( over 3 cars).

Still find it a nervy ordeal.

Anyway, went to Halfords this time as its conveniently near a shopping centre, the only advisory I got was :-

Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i))

They 'kindly' quote a price of £583.39 to replace both wishbones plus £31.99 to align wheels. FANTASY MONEY Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I do like new parts on the car, but wondering whether to bother as I only seem to average 3,000 miles a year, which I admit is absolutely pathetic.

Best parts price I spotted on fleabay was £90 for a pair. . . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LANDROVER-FREEL...SwjqVZBvmJ

anyone know of a better price?? 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

You would think when they are asking crazy money for the work they would at least throw in the alignment free.

I’d guess that the labour charge would be about an hour each side?

Are Halfords quoting for genuine LR suspension arms (the bushes are not separately changeable)? If so the parts will be 3 or 4 times the cost of the ebay pattern parts? That would push the total cost up to the level they quoted.

Has anyone else had this job done, I haven’t seen it mentioned on the forum before?

it would make more sense if the bushes were changeable, but I don't think they are. 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

If the wear isn't resulting in excessive movement and the car still drives OK why bother changing them, particularly with your annual mileage? I'd just leave them.

Hi all, I had both my wishbones replaced in Feb 2017. Mot advisory. Local dealer. Cost me £350 which was £125 each for the WB and £100 labour. All including VAT. This was at 114k.

Cheers, JGH99 Freelander 2 GS Stornoway Grey

Hi

The bushes are available separately if you just want to change the bushes, they are the same as fitted to other makes i.e. Ford, number of videos on YouTube showing how to replace them (Ford Focus or Mondeo)

JGH99 thanks for that

AJ918 thank you, I never knew that. But now that I have looked at some of the prices as £30 each, unless I am looking at the wrong bush , it may be just as cheap to replace the whole arm, this pair for a ford mondeo look exactly the same as the FL2 for £65 a PAIR

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-MONDEO-MK4...2410258569

Can anyone confirm for definite if they are compatible ? 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

Quite a range of prices on the suspension arm assemblies, up to £560 for genuine LR pair.

Personally, I’d compromise on the Delphi set at £189. These are specifically listed for Freelander 2 and Delphi is a recognised top tier supplier. The Mondeo parts may be physically interchangeable but I’d be concerned that the rubber bushes may be specified with different modulus or torsional parameters given the varying dynamics of the two vehicles?
