Freelander 2 Strange Vibration From Front o/s Wheel

Hi all can any one throw any light on my problem , i have a 2007 freelander 2 6 speed manual, when driving i get a slight vibration through the steering wheel and floor , and a humming noise it come's and goes but if i turn the steering wheel slightly to the left when it appears it more or less goes but comes back as soon as the steering wheel is in the straight position .Could this be my o/s front wheel bearing .very frustrating it is not alway's there it appears then goes but it's annoying when it comes like a humming noise as though im on faint rumble strips any advice would be much appreciated Big Cry

Hi Nev

Have a look on the forum for diff/transmission noises. Might be the beginning of the PTO (Front diff) unit failing?? Any
noise on/off the throttle? Can you change the pitch by accelerating etc?

Hi Nev

Have a read of this on Bell Engineering site. Austen is very helpful and it would be well worth giving him a call to discuss the symptoms. He specialises in Freelanders and is member on this site too. Can't hurt to ask.

the detail is in the description, humming is an odd choice, if it was like a droning sound (again maybe an odd choice of word) and happens when deviating from a straight line, could be wheel bearing 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

Just check to see if they are directional tyres first? I have a feeling the Scorpions are.
If so swap the wheel front to rear to achieve the same check?

You said wheel bearing. Worth checking as it's very easy, but in the meantime, look at the half driveshafts and the right bearing anchorage.

Download the service manual from the link in this topic: https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10621.html
Look there for the bearing anchorage and other drivetrain components.
If the tires are so new, don't believe they are the culprits.
