Handbrake cable replacement

Hi all,

I’m just looking for a little bit of advice. It’s MOT time next month, so I need to tackle a job I have been putting off...

My N/S rear handbrake cable has snapped so needs repacking.

Removing the drum and shoes is not a problem, but can anyone tell me if the exhaust/prop shaft needs to be dropped/moved to give me enough room?

TIA

No you don't need to remove anything, but you may need to make a tool from a piece of 1/2" tube to release the brake cable sleeve from the brake back plate, some people have been able to pull it out without the tool and others its needed to release the barbs in the back plate.
