Given up now, wondering how the insurance companies work. Many years ago had a 3 litre Granada ghia, called company a week before I moved only to be told company wouldn't cover me at new postcode so forced to move cover elsewhere. Following year swapped Granada in for an Impreza but company wouldn't cover that car at this postcode, so switched me to . . . yep, company I originally had Granada with. Now that suggests they considered the Granada parked on the pavement to have been more of a risk than the Impreza. Madness.

my son was insuring his Audi A6 last year, stated as parking on the drive. It was a bit pricey so he said ok change it to garaged (i think i must have the worlds largest garage!! Laughing )........ the quote went up!!!!

apparently due to a lot of thefts from garages in my postcode area (its a massive area) they bump the premiums up no matter what it was that was being stolen, which was probably power tools etc

weird insurance companies definitely

I have also been told by insurance companies that cars kept in garages have additional fault claims for damage done squeezing then in and out of garages! Rolling Eyes

I would imagine it's more of a risk as it's a classic car. I hate to say it but most people would not appreciate it's "Classic" status, (not me, of course) , therefore wouldn't be too careful around it when , say, reverse parking , so they don't see it as a problem if they bump it - to them it's just a worthless old banger.
The Impreza on the other hand would command more respect as a modern motor.
