Failed drivers door lock

I've just had a call from my nephew, who runs an 08 plate FL2 HSE. He has a problem with the drivers door lock, in that it will not open with either the fob nor by the internal pull handle - and the door is closed !! My feeling about the failure to open manually is that the connection between internal handle and lock has somehow become unclipped. Unfortunately, as the door cannot be opened, it is not possible to remove the door card in order to check/rectify the problem. I would imagine that this has happened to someone else at sometime, so any and all (sensible) tips would be much appreciated !!

Thanks, in anticipation of a good resolution ....

Does the 08 have the skeleton key inside the key fob like later models? At least this will allow him Entry/exit. After that could be the door lock itself as the motor seems a weak point.

Yes 2008 has the key in the Fob. But that just unlocks the door, doesn't actuate the latch.

And it only unlocks the passenger door .......

He has now actually managed to get the lock open, and has fitted a replacement. I'll ask him how he did it, and post it up

Thumbs Up Yes a write is certain to help others,
especially as the vehicles get older and electrics fail.
