Hi all can some one who understands electrics offer any advice to me please.

The vehicle is an 08 HSE and all I did was to change a dead light bulb in the dome light near the rear view mirror for a canbus led festoon bulb, the bulb never lit up once fitted and now I have no working interior lights plus the window and mirror controls on the drivers door have stopped working.

I have checked all the fuses, disconnected the battery for a couple of hours and this has not worked the odd thing is after re connecting the battery all I had to do was re set the clock where in the past after doing this I had to re program the seat and windows etc.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Had the same problem and blew a couple of fuses before realising the problem. The back of the replacement LED was shorting out inside the lamp mounting when inserting the lamp. As a temporary measure a piece of insulating tape on the back of the LED sorted the problem but fixed permanently with a slightly different design of LED.

The first thing I did was to check the fuses then replaced the LED with another filament type bulb in case it was the LED at fault but why should the door module fail are the internal lights and mirrors / windows connected somehow?

I only have limited info re the wiring for the later models - have you checked Fuses 01 and 02 in the rear fuse box - they should be connected to the door courtesy light curcuits (I hope)
There is also a relay for the lighting R250 which is something to do with the battery saving circuit

Same happened to me on Monday, changed to LED and lost lights. powerfold and windows,
passenger foot-well fuse box, F17, 7.5amp, brown. surprised it controlled windows and mirrors

Hi Gents.

Sorry to be late replying but I have had a few days diving on a newly discovered wreck just far out enough in the channel for me to loose my data signal but on getting back I took your advice.

Thank you to all who kept saying check your fuses especially Dave47, the first thing I did after the problem started was to check them and they all looked ok but after your replies I decided to check them again F17 looked fine but I put a test screwdriver on it just in case and the screwdriver did not light up so fuse changed and all is well and working again, I do find it weird that it only affected the window controls on the drivers door whilst all the others still operated the windows but such is life.

So folks lesson learnt looks can be deceptive and a fuse that looks to be good may not be so.

Thanks Scubadiver I owe you one. At my wits end trying to get my door window/mirror controls to work, checked FA1 in the rear fuse box, it was ok. Only after a search and finding your post did I check F17 in the passenger side fuse box. Yes, it was blown. I hadn’t notice as I hadn’t been out after dark for a while so courtesy lights not seen. As you rightly say, it’s strange that this fuse also affects the door controls as it’s not mentioned in the handbook.
