This is an FYI post, and may be of interest to those who need to know costs etc:

I have just had my FL2 returned to my home after its first service. Service done by Lancaster Land Rover Reading. They picked up from home (12 miles from dealership) and returned after service.

12 months time elapsed. 13238 miles

Service - £199.50
Helix 5W30 6 litre - £48.45
Pollen Filter - £11.56
Element - Oil - £6.88
Gasket - £0.71
Screen Wash - £2.08
Forte Diesel Clean - £9.70
Forte Engine Flush - £9.50
Helix 5W30 1 litre - £8.50 (dunno why an extra litre)
Clip x 6 - £1.38 (dunno what these are)
Service Spray - £3.20 (WTF is this?)


Net - £301.46
VAT - £45.22

Total - £346.68


I have a rear speaker (C-pillar) trim panel to be replaced, as my Barjo Dog Guard pushed it out of place and damaged the retaining clip. - cost (on order) £65.18 inc parts and labour and VAT

Rear passenger door bottom seal to be replaced under warranty (on order) Chris

Thanks ttc546 - I am thinking of using Lancaster Reading for my first service due in a month or so as it's my local dealer, but not where I bought the car. Price not too bad, but still a lot for an oil and pollen filter change I guess ... Freelander 2 TD4 HSE auto Tonga Green/Alpaca

I agree with CG they take the charging you for the above

I would expect half a can of silicone spray and 4.5liters of screen wash left in my car for that

I noticed they charged me for screenwash on my first service, on my second service i brimmed my bottle to the top, and took it to them, to see if they charged me for it, but they didn't  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Why not let CG enterprises service your car we will take good care of it





It truth the above car is being prepared for a trip to the scrapyard, my mate borrowed my loader to help remove the tyres and drain the fuel from the tank(by drilling a hole in it), he got £80 for it At work

I discovered what the extra 1 litre of oil was this morning. It was a "gift" wrapped in a nice canvas bag left on the passenger seat. Nice, but I really don't like paying for gifts ..... £8.50 + VAT ..... Chris

The way i looked at my extra was they price matched another garage to get the service, the price was agreed, and it was the price i paid

But i think charging for a extra litre of oil is wrong, when you haven't asked for it.

Mine is booked in with Roger Young LR for 1st service, next month. I already knew from the service bulletin on their wall that the cost was £345, so I rang round other local(ish) dealers and asked for their best price. Riders Truro £275, Matford Exeter £293, County Barnstaple £308. I got Roger Young down to £295, and it is a bit more convenient. Reading this site has proved that things are 'negotiable'  Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

I paid £240 last month for my first service at james edwards...looks like i got a good deal.. 6010 mile s on the clock

I have been phoning around to check costs as they seem to vary according to the members here, but all my local ones are consistently about £325.
Interesting from one dealer who offers £324, or £249 without Pollen Filter

My son suffers from hay-fever but given that the car is 12 months old with 11K miles and the summer we had last year, I can't think that it will need changing.

Should I go ahead without?

£75 for pollen filter? damn those farmers growing all those pollen producing crops  At work
