Australia 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green

So I’ve taken the initiative and found the person who designed and manufactured this Snorkel for the Freelander 2.
In about a months time he’s about to produce another batch as he has some orders of which I have put my name down for one.
The snorkel replaces the side vent completely and attaches to the factory pipe in the fender. The snorkel is attached to the vehicle via a fixing point behind the original fender vent and I believe some type of fixing onto the A -Pilar, could possibly be just 3m double sided tape, not sure but I’m not really bothered with this minor detail. I’ve attached detail photos.
I’ve also asked him to explore the possibility of listing on eBay to make purchasing easier of which he said he would and would get back to me.
I’ve also said that I would give everyone details on this forum and if people indicated interested that I would feed back to him approximately numbers but it will be up to each individual to follow up.
The Snorkel is around the R$950, AU$356, £197 mark plus obviously shipping.
If people indicate on here their interest I will pass on numbers so he has an idea how many to do
for the next run.
I have no connection to this supplier just passing on for the benefit of forum members.

Would really look the business if he did a left and right one. e.g. Twin Snorkels. Shocked

Though sadly, a bit too late for me. Confused FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Not unless the whole of the duct inside the front wing is changed, as the existing duct isn’t watertight. You’ll also have to do something about the drain in the bottom of the air filter. The current rubber disc will only seal under suction, it’s not a floating ball valve like the fl1.

Ok, so I'd like to added to that list if I may.

On the question of being waterproof - there are ways and means to achieve this, using aftermarket parts not necessarily made for the F2, and doing away with standard fitment things like air filter housings.
But you'd need to be barking mad to want to go deep enough that water would ingress via the standard air intake anyway. Then there's all the question of waterproofing the under bonnet electrics, lengthening the transmission breather pipe etc. I reckon a smear of silicone at the joints when assembling would suffice, enough to stop a quick unexpected splash from entering the system.

just wondered about the waterproofing... most people view a snorkel as a means of going through deep water safely which obviously isnt advisable, rather than a means of raising the air intake out of the dust clouds and mud etc that gets thrown up when off road.

If i was ever to fit a snorkel then i would have all the diff breather pipes extended up the snorkel and waterproof the bits that cant be extended. But thats just me Very Happy

but that one does look very nice aesthetically and will keep the cr@p out of the air vent, even deep puddles at the side of the road.
