I use, Black Velcro, as it has a high resistance to, Sun. I have found some of the pads wear very quickly and stain the plates.
As I live in, North Norfolk, theft is not a problem but soon fixed with razor blades stuck to each corner.

Resurrection of an old post, how do the original fixings come out?

With a screw located half way into fixing grab a plier and tug the fixing out.

I just screwed them on, luckily for my personal plates I took off the FFRR when sold it the fixing holes on the FL2 are exactly the same dimensions as the FFRR, I do use security screw though (in the plastic covers) not the normal posidrive type. Regards

David

So, are the nutserts in there already? My rear plate fell off the first time I wash the car, turns out there was a mess of re-used sticky pads! i would rather screw the plate on but cannot see any nutserts.

There were no inserts on my rear door just square holes, I wanted to get the plates on fast so didn’t bother with sourcing the genuine inserts and found some ordinary wall plugs which fitted tight and the screws worked great. Regards

France

Here in France, the numberplates have to be riveted to the car ( law ). Rivets sold in colours to match the plates ( but most are white front and back now so no probs ). easy to remove with a drill, no damage to the no plate. If you measure well, you can use the original holes provided by landrover.

Mine just has two hexagonal holes.
The number plate has come loose three times now and Im fed up of peeling all the old double sided tape off, so Im going to try these rubber expanding things...

If these fail, has anyone got the part numbers for the genuine fixings for the hexagonal holes? I tried a couple of searches on google and got nothing useful. Jules

Something like DYH 000140 - Nut Blind Anchor which fits an 8mm hole I think??? If not it may be a starting point for a dealer enquiry...

Industrial strength Velcro does the job... As used by many motorcyclists, can't think why Mr. Green

Thanks - they're only £22 each on ebay !!!

To be fair you can get them for about 90p each - postage is usually around £8 though Jules

if nothing in the LR section I imagine there could well be one that would do the job elsewhere - or worth an enquiry 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic
