England 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 Sport Auto Barolo Black

Nothing really to report on the Fl2 other than its just had the discs/pads/shoes replaced as the original one's were getting a bit crusty . I've also machine polished the tailgate to remove the horrendous carwash induce scratches from the previous owner , the rest of the car will be done when the time is available. The oil changes I have done every 6 months (4.5k) and its plugged in to check on the DPF level , upto now I've not had any trouble , it's only ever run on BP Ultimate diesel which I hope should help too , whether or not it does or not who knows but for the sake of a few extra pence per litre I'm not too bothered . Next jobs planned are a haldex service and a gearbox flush to keep on top of things , thankfully I know a very knowledgeable LR tech who really knows his stuff .

morning bxzx16v - you appear to have the same car as me Thumbs Up

where and who is your LR tech that you go to please ? ill be looking to get a gearbox flush as mine is a bit jerky on changes and is making a weird whining noise. The supplying dealer (Proctors at Wessington near Matlock) have had a look but cant find anything wrong but to me its just not right

also how much is a gearbox flush and filter service ?

TIA

Rogb

I've done some research Rog and these seem to be the best option for the gearbox flush http://www.theparksidegarage.co.uk/ , I think it's in the region of £300 , the system they use flushes new transmission fluid one way until clean unlike some which flush both ways but using some sort of chemical which I've been told can dislodge any build up and cause problems . I was told by an auto gearbox specialist to avoid the chemical flush . I'll Pm you regarding the tech I use .

cheers Mark, looks a good garage if you go by their website, although Huddersfield is a bit of trek for me.

Up early today to get both cars washed before the mid day sun makes it hard work , both cars washed with Gyeon bathe shampoo , wheels and tyres cleaned with Bilt Hamber Surfex Hd , the tyres were dressed with Carpro perl , wheels treated to Turtlewax rinse wax for a little protection and both cars got a layer of Turtlewax spray wax .

Next job is a full machine polish for the Sport Le , I'm just waiting on a few new pads for the rotary then work will commence .

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

Look lovely, 2 black cars take a lot of work to keep looking good. We had a black Passat and black Golf at same time and I swore never again. But we bought a black Tiguan after them and I spent all yesterday afternoon cleaning and polishing it. So satisfying when they are clean! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

A few more jobs ticked off , I've just had the timing belt kit , waterpump , auxiliary belt , oil change , pollen filter and air filter all genuine parts at a reasonable price . The Fl2 isn't doing much mileage now as the wife is on lock down working from home , I'm using her Fl2 for my short commute , it's running well now having done 151k .

Early start today to give the Fl2 a good clean and machine polish , first up a good wash with some Gyeon bathe shampoo then rinsed and dried and some Bilt Hamber korrosol was applied to remove any bonded metal contamination , there wasn't much on the car .Next onto tar removal courtesy of Autosmart tardis again not much to remove , a good rinse down then clayed using Bilt Hamber clay . The car was then rinsed and dried and ready for polishing , today polish combo was Scholl concepts S3 Gold xxl and Turtlewax ceramic hybrid polish , the Scholl concepts S3 was used on the near side as the offside had fairly low paint readings as someone had previously had a go at polishing it and I didn't want to remove anymore clear coat than needed . Various pads were used , the main one being a Lake country green pad for the Turtlewax and a Lake country yellow for the Scholl S3 , various spot pads were used for the more intricate areas . I started with the full size Dewalt rotary but ended up using the Shinemate mini rotary which handled the 5" pads a dream . The Turtlewax polish was very nice to work with and just may get used on the wife's black Fl2 also . Just as I finished the heavens opened just in time to get a few beading shots .

The beading is pretty impressive for an all in one polish , next wash it will get topped with some Turtlewax spray sealant.
