Not sure with most other EVs but ours can be “told” to charge at three different levels from domestic supplies, 10amps/7amps/4amps if your there and not using the car much then the lowest setting will give a full charge in 24 hours or so.

But I do agree, camp/caravan site hook ups can be notoriously “dodgy” for reliable power. Regards

United Kingdom

A couple of years ago we were on away for the Easter bank holiday weekend, Thursday night the mains electricity went out a couple of times. Bored with the nagging from the wife I went and found the wardens and offered to help - everybody carries a full toolkit including clamp-meter and thermal imaging don't they?

Turns out one of the breakers was failing and none of the others had enough spare load to swap it out. So we went to all the vans on the same circuit and asked them to turn off electric heating, so their fridges and battery charging would be available. - for the non-caravanners out there, this would allow them to continue on as normal, using gas for heating and cooking.

A couple of the vanners said they had paid for 16A electric and they were damn well going to use it, 5 minutes later the mains went out again, and stayed out until Saturday until we could get a replacement breaker.

Boxbrownie. ICE vehicle???

Wouldn't like to be on jollies hollies over here with EV as even if you could find a charging point there would probably be a power cut sometime in the recharge period. Rolling with laughter

Average 2 /day.

ICE = Internal Combustion Engine

Wales does indeed have a almost unique position in that EV charging points are extremely few and far between, but it will get better EV entually.........see what I did there? Rolling with laughter Regards

I have notice that Toyota / Lexus have started calling their non PHEV Hybrids ---- Self Charging Hybrids.

It seems a good way of disguising their lack of charging off the mains.

We are developing lots of Hybrid associated words, like Mild Hybrid, etc. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

The current (for a good few months now) advertising campaign utilising the “catch” self charging has a lot of industry (and customer/EV officianados) in a bit of a lather, as patently any car with a battery is “self charging”.......granted they may be Hybrids, but every other Hybrid on the road does the same.

It’ll blow over Laughing Regards

Does this mean that the later FL2 and my DS are now hybrids?

The smart alternator gives a steady charge to the battery unless you brake, it then steps up the charging to regenerate power back into the battery. so "enhanced self charging" a new advertising blurb - you heard it here first. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
