United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

I had a definite bearing noise at the rear, started at about 30mph worse by 50mph and got really bad by 70mph.......checked all the bearings, diff, wheel etc, changed the 3/4 worn Wranglers for a set of Michelin and it’s a completely different car, silent now Thumbs Up Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Getting a humming noise from rear of vehicle at most speeds, noticeable when slowing down or accelerating. Renewed both rear wheel bearings but noise still present and seems to be getting worse. How will know if the diff is the problem or something worse.

It could be tyres or diff, try & find a garage that have a set of chassis ears, they will pinpoint any bearing noise instantly. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

I have said this before but I have had the rear diff, a rear wheel bearing and tyre noise on various FL2s and they all sounded the same to me. Start with the tyres, I have Wranglers on which have done about 22k miles and on some road surfaces they are definitely getting noisy. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
