The satellites reached what they call a "roll over".

the current USB map is for 2018/19 and is available from several internet providers, I have been told that last year the update was release in late May so we should have a new one in a few weeks time.

This may be a silly question. Why do people still use an old inbuilt sat nav when your smart phone has a much better option? |

Because it is illegal to even touch a mobile phone while driving a car, so during the journey if you need to change something (even to zoom to see something better) your breaking the law.

That's not true. You can touch your phone while it is fixed in the holder.

Well that's the info on the RAC site specifically covering Mobile use in vehicles and was updated in July 2018 (the law). Regards

Brother has CarPlay activated on his DS, and now has the option of Sygic, Waze, Google Maps or Apple Maps. In the 3 months that he has had it, he hasn't gone back to the LR Navigation system once, as all four of the aforementioned knock it into a cocked hat. Looks like this will be the future for JLR, in theory, this should reduce the list prices by not having to have their own sat Nav system installed.

Indeed, in fact so many manufacturers are now waving the "white flag" and allowing/including Carplay etc within the vehicle system I should guess within a few years there will be no option for an inbuilt SatNav in the brochure. Regards David Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me...... Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again...... |

Don’t quote me but I thought I had seen somewhere the SD slot is under the little tray below the Nav unit. Regards

The one and only advantage to the built in navigation system is that it still computes in a tunnel when the satellites are lost, very handy in the Paris ring roads as you can pick the right lane before the satellites reconnect.
