At startup, the car compares the value stored into instruments with the values stored in 6 other ECUs.
If any of those values is outside a window of about 300 kms, a DTC is stored and the cluster will display the majority value.
Maybe there was a glitch on one of the CAN buses or with one of those ECUs or even with the cluster and therefore that value.
If at next power-up is displaying the correct value, no need to worry. If not... it needs further investigation.

Or, like someone said some time ago, maybe the car wants "To vote in 'NEW BLOOD'" and tells you that you should have stayed with the Freelander 1.
Just kidding... Laughing

Does anyone know of anyone who has ever used 118118 or similar services when you can do it via Google? I can remember calling 192 on a Sunday morning years ago and asking for the number of a guy called Wildey (I wasn't even sure of the spelling) who lived somewhere in Scotland, a helpful lady tracked him down in a few minutes at no cost. I doubt if you would get very far these days. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

She must have lived pretty close to him.
That was a coincidence, she could have taken all day to get to him otherwise.

I used to work for the GPO as a Telephonist Part Time Nights (or the nighttime operator in English). Part of that job involved working in the "DQ" suite, otherwise known as Directory Enquiries - dial 192. It was always different and interesting to get a call like that and I once had a request for the number of "the old fella who lives down the Barrack Road" . The caller told me that everyone knows him but strangly he did not know his name. After a few enquiries with some of the older staff I found out what his name was and was able to find his number. We would often spend an hour or more trying to find a number and then ring the caller back. Our briefing in those days was to make all reasonable enquiries and effort to enable the subscriber (customer) to make the call but that was long before privatisation when service not profit was the key driver.
