Whatsapp problem with adding contact.

I'm Admin for a beekeepers Whatsapp group.
I'm having difficulty adding a new participant. They have Whatsapp loaded and working on their phone. They appear in my google account contact list (name and mobile phone number) but they dont appear in the Whatsapp list of contacts when I search there when trying to add them to the group.

I've not had this issue before.

I dont know what the solution is. Any advice from Whatsapp experts out there would be gratefully received. Jules

turns out they havent got whatsapp running yet - problem explained . i was given duff info. Jules
