Robbing Scroats

Last night our caravan disappeared from storage. Went through a hedge/fence across a field bolt cropped the lock off a gate and took our van despite a hitch lock, two wheel locks and two leg locks Censored

Where we're you last night CG? Common sense isn't very common.

How low can some people stoop to even think about stealing a caravan.

I had a break in last July, power washer, chain saw, leaf blower, not good.

Ive upgraded the security on the shipping container I keep in a locked building, but Im still expecting them to come and collect the new stuff.

The hoses for the power washer alone cost £400, heavy long industrial stuff

A guy I know bought an expensive ride on mower , it was gone in a week.

Most of the items stolen from me where actually paid for by the insurance about 10 years ago after someone robbed their predecessors At work

Probably find that it's now in their "permanent" site at Ryton-on-Dunsmore with all the other stolen vehicles....you know, the one that the police are too scared to pay a visit to, despite knowing full well that it's an Aladdins Cave in there!

I had a caravan stolen back in the 90's. When I informed the Police, they said it would be in Ireland (North or South) or on a pre-booked crossing to France.

My caravan had TWO water heater flue/vents, the original 6ltr and a new 9ltr which I fitted. with all its other distinguishing features ......... it was never found.

Always getting the “white vans” cruising into the yards and then scuttling away again when a Censored big New Holland comes chundering around the corner......thieving bar stewards.....two weeks ago we caught on CCTV a (would you believe) Ford Maverick 4X4 drive up to my SiL’s parked pick up right outside the house, driver got out opened the pick ups door and nicked one of the old work phones in the pick up, then drove off as if nothing had happened, mind you almost got trapped by out sprayer coming back from a job, just got around it and off into the dark, they got nerve!

Sorry to hear about the tin tent, don’t blame you for not wanting it back though, it’ll be trimmed in polished chrome and full of horse brasses by now. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Back to Axle's caravan.

NO you don't want it back. Knew a guy who had his stolen and the Police recovered it from a travelers yard, he sold it through part exchange as soon as he could.

So how to stop it happening again ....

In my case, I bought a new caravan with the insurance. Then set about designing the ultimate alarm system.
On installing it I informed the insurance company.
After explaining it was a 'professional' DIY fit they refused to insure the caravan unless I removed the alarm system I had installed.. WHY ??? I hear you ask.

The alarm I had installed had the technology to blow the fuses on the tow vehicle each time a stop light/tail lamp/reverse and brake were used. Leaving both the tow vehicle and caravan looking very suspicious on the road. Further on momentum of the caravan ALL external lamps would flash randomly, day or night.

The insurance company claimed my alarm could cause harm/fire and potentially death to the driver and occupants of the tow vehicle.

............. yes that was the ultimate FEATURE .......... Whistle Whistle

This idiocy is an example of just why keyless vehicles that are hijacked with the engine running and with the key no longer present do not cut the engine after a certain amount of loss of range...it's not just JLR guilty of this, it's all of them. "The thieving criminals safety is far more important than anything else - it's their Yuman Rites init to steal your prized possessions and you MAY NOT defend it under any circumstance."

Says it all about our risk-averse, PC obsessed, namby-pamby "everyone's equal" society.

Personally, I have always found the threat of a 12 gauge Browning 325 with a couple of No. 6's already chambered enough of a deterrent.......is that PC? Probably not......rob me at your peril! I dare ya?!!

Ps: Tony Martin was, and still is, SPOT ON with his defence of his property 20 odd years ago, and I, like most right minded individuals would do exactly the same. Bring your prosecution on, CPS.
