is anyone using them at the moment? The brake dust is driving me nuts. If they are good stoppers that's a bonus.

Only on high end AMG, Porsche and Ferrari around here. Usually spotted by yellow calipers and can cost £ks per wheel for the ceramic discs and pad combination. You want these on a FL2?  3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

“ ceramic “ pads are standard on Subaru Outback . When I had mine changed at 24k miles ( auto car , live in Pennine foothills ) the dealer gave me the option of going for a pair of quality pattern “ ordinary” pads . I stuck with the OE Akebono ceramic which are around £85 +VAT , as opposed to around £45 for the pattern non ceramics . I notice a major difference in the dirt on the FL2 wheels compared with the Scooby despite the latter doing 3 times the mileage PA. the ceramic compound is also very quiet , does what it is supposed to do , ie stops the car without drama , and does not require any noticeable “ breaking in “ .

I’d certainly give them a go , even if they cost twice the price , it’s nothing amortised over 20 or 30 thousand miles .

Me! I have not had to replace the pads on this car yet. On my previous car, Seat Ibiza, I got the old pads reshoed with metal pads. But it ment if you needed to use the car you needed 1 spare set while waiting for the old pads to be reshoed.

Heaps less dust, braked better, lasted longer only put on 2 sets over 18 years I had the car, didn't wear down the discs any quicker either, quiet, didn't fade like the standard pads as they didn't get as hot, cheaper. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Lightwater, it may be difficult for anyone on a UK based forum to give you a valid recommendation. Regulations on compound composition may be different between European spec cars and Aus/NZ due to different legal requirements for environmental protection.

The ceramics are maybe an extra 20% cost over the standard pads. I'll get them soon - let's see, checklist - struts, coils, pads, cambelt.

I can't believe it's been nearly a week but, I did finally speak with Export, pads are sent to Australia. EBC Yellow Stuff (6000 series I think) apparently are very popular with 4x4's with no complaints back on performance.
in case it matters, i don't work for EBC and have nothing to gain, also I haven't had them fitted and cannot personally give any feedback. I hope like everyone else, I look forward to reading what pads you do buy and your feedback. FL2 2010 MY Lago Grey/Storm & Ebony Interior 2.2 TD4 HSE Auto
