So this weekend I decided to replace the cambelt, water pump, torque vibration damper, aux belt. Trying to get the flywheel locking pin was a right game, the hole was all rusted up, took me a while to do it. I also replace the inlet manifold with one that does not have swirl flaps...being a techy for BMW I see allot of issues with them, I found one brand new £60 on ebay. I also replaced all 4 glow plugs due to cold starting hesitancy.

I did the same thing the other year, took me several days and that was in the summer, wouldn't have fancied doing it this time of year. Did you leave the EGR pipe in place, I ended up blanking it and leaving it off as I could tell it was going to be a right hassle trying to get it back on at the back.

Yes I left the pipe in place, managed to move it out the way slightly, I've blanked mine too and its been remapped by Celtic tuning, goes like stink for a heavy car. I took one look at the Allen key bolts at the back and thought sod that. Yes mine had failed anyway, it was very hesitant at cold starting before but I thought I'd change the manifold at the same time, as you say peace of mind. |

Oh yes I am for sure. I could of used my ramp at work but I didn't want to risk killing it if something went wrong. We used to have to work in these conditions at MG Longbridge ![]() |
