Jeez. I know it’s a instructional video and a damaged tailgate but i wouldn’t let that guy within a hundred yards of my car. Plus any dealer or prospective private buyer who sees this video then sees a car with the mod done will just walk away. I know I would.

Suppose the brain gets programmed to everything being symmetric on cars over the years then when something different pops up alarm bells ring.

Don't mind it myself just a matter of getting used to it Thumbs Up If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

prefer the original, but it's nice to have the option.

Have used powerful kit in the past - it was OEM quality, and the instructions were first class. Can you imagine LR doing an instructional video on how to change a door lock - and they sell enough of them.
The guy doesn't profess to be technically qualified but because he doesn't you get the feeling that if he can do it, then you can. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I have it on good authority (from a bloke in the pub) that the reason for offsetting the number plate is so that you can more easily tell the difference between the various RangeRover Sport/ Disco/DS models which all look the same to most people. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

At the very least they should've shown the finished article, complete with number plate, badge & lights all refitted.

Still think my conversion is better though. Wink

That was funny to watch Laughing It's definitely a water leak waiting to happen; to depend on a vertical joint that isn't even lapped over and then held together only with silicone is balmy Shocked

It's surprising to think that anyone would buy the car in the first place if they thought that such a savage fix was necessary. It's interesting to see that these repair kits are available from around £360 now.

I wonder how much a new tailgate painted and ready to fit would cost? I don't think I'd have either the courage or the inclination to take a multitool to my £46k - £70k car.

If you can get used to the new shape discovery then you'd get used to the offset number plate.

Have to agree with nomad. If you dislike the rear end so much that you want to change it with a chop job, then you have bought the wrong car. And you probably have too much money.

As above, if a number plate causes so much distress and anguish that you have to butcher it then why buy the car in the first place?

99 problems in my life but where a number plate is mounted ain’t one of them. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
