Shall I???

Hi, Im having a right dilemma.....

Ive wanted a Freelander 2 for sooo long...and finally Im in a position to get one...

One has come up 2.2 TD4 HSE 4X4 5DR DIESEL 100k on the clock...and just a little bit over my budget of 8k.

But I keep reading that the SD4 engine is better, faster etc, and now im in doubt!!!!! But cannot find many for sale near my budget.

Do I just go for the TD4 engine??

Help!!! Shall I get it??? Shocked

You will be lucky to find an SD4 2010 onwards if 8k is over your budget.

Hi RogB, yes, I was thinking if I wait a while and save a bit more I can go for an SD4 engine...But I suppose, im just impatient...

I haven't yet seen the HSE TD4, but it says it has a full service history, looks clean on the photos..not aware of any work that has had done to it. But I will ask.


The TD4 engine appears to be more common than the SD4, in terms of FD's for the sale that is..


Is the TD4 a bad engine???

Nowt wrong with the TD4 engine at all I doubt you would notice any difference between them, mine will certainly crack on down the road when you ask it to.

I agree, TD4 is fine.
A simple ECU remap will give take it to about 185HP if you want more power. Derek Hill

Love my TD4, get it remapped and you won't be disappointed, its not a speed machine but it shifts when you need it to! The remap just makes it feel more driveable

First thing first, have you driven a Freelander yet regardless td4 or SD4 ? I have owned both TD4 & SD4 (I would buy another TD4 without thinking)
