I’ve just taken my side steps off and I can’t see a reason why they’d need to come off to make jacking accessible. Might be a bit easier but not necessary. |

Agree with Paulm - have fitted and taken off several different makes of sidesteps and slider bars - there is no need to do so to jack the vehicle - there is absolutely no need to remove them to get to the wheels - they don't know what they are talking about - odd that for a garage |

Hi thank you both for your response, after further clarifying with the garage they have now said there is no need to sleep the steps off to access the jacking point .

Also worth bearing in mind that there are separate jacking points for trolley jacks, which would not be affected as they are central under the car. A diagram has been posted before and a search should find it. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

It may be worth pointing out that genuine LR side steps (& copies) instructions advise removing the steps to jack for wheel removal. They are secured by 3 x 21mm hex head bolts per side (same size as wheel nuts). Removal gives access to the specified sill jacking points with supplied scissor jack or whatever. It may well be easier to use a trolley jack under the centre but LR clearly like to do it the hard way. |
