I agree with Andy. Although perhaps some bright spark will remanufacture modules, updated, longer lasting, and with configurable additional features. PS I retired some 19 years ago, and am in need of remanufacturing. (I started in prehistoric times, with thermionic valves and analogue computing.) When balancing advice I consider these sort of things (use link) and what poor advice on here may cost those with little financial slack. Quote After 2 weeks of fault finding and swapping dash, sensors and looms garage come to conclusion that for 90% is the central junction box fault. As the new CJB need to vin coded to the car and can't be returned, they want to charge me £1400+already labour of £400. I'm not going ahead and car car will be scrapped http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic31427-45.html[/quote At a Mercedes main dealer, a customer takes his A class (old shape) for a problem to be sorted. Problem is....car won't start..e.g. Engine won't turn over. After many trips to parts department from workshop, by technician and many, many parts being fitted including Ecu/throttle body, the technician said to me " you would never guess what the fault was..............the starter motor" Well me being quite old fashioned thought that was the obvious thing to try first. BUT the computer told him different! Technicians go on courses but are only told what the manufacturer wants them to know. suppose it reinstates that old fashioned term.....fitters |
