yep - pays to shop around every year.
I usually have a search using Compare The Market etc then see what a few brokers can come up with. Jules

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

Don't understand the logic, but when I took my redundancy deal 13 months ago I faced insuring a car for myself for the first time in 34 years ( Freelander insured by Mrs B ) , and I found a great deal that would credit me with 15 years NCB against a written confirmation from my employers that I had no " fault " claims over that period whilst driving a company car . The rider was that I had to stick with the insurer for 2 years, if I left them after one year they would only issue a 1 year NCB letter. The premium was sub 300 which I thought was great , and this year it only went up by 25 , but I did add protected NCB for a further 45 ( don't know if that was worth doing ? )

I'm quite happy with that as it's a leading direct insurer, and I've got up 20,000 miles a year. I did however take a stand alone Gap Insurance policy out on the Scooby so I've still got new for old for another 4 years.

All told I'm very happy as on starting my "leisure years" Rolling with laughter motoring getting a decent quote was of concern. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Halifax winter necessity.

Home and Contents Insurance

Left LV last year as the bumped the home and contents insurance up dramatically. Ended up at the Coop for far less money.

Coop have just done the same adding £50 and now LV are quoting me for insurance in 2018 £70 cheaper than they did it for in 2016. Banging Head

Same here with LV. £453 for our Evoque last year, £426 renewal this year, online as a new customer £291. As said, loyalty counts for nothing. If my regular customers found out that I was giving better deals to new customers, I’d lose their business and rightly so. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

They do vary enormously. Sometimes it's because the broker has changed insurers (I think that happened with the Co-op, as they got suddenly expensive this year). Many of these "insurers" have their policy underwritten by someone else. I've moved to SAGA, who gave me a good deal, despite having had to make a claim (tree jumped out behind me). But even then the numbers seem to be magic. As the renewal was quite high (protected bonus but of course they raise the actual premium) I rang and asked for a quote if they took my wife off the policy. "No sir, that will actually raise the premium". I asked them to check anyway, and the result was a much LOWER premium. They were more surprised than I was. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
