Seized Engine

Been looking at this site a while now, thought i would see if any body else has been as unlucky as me. Oil warning light came on after traveling from kent to the cotswolds over christmas, called out LRA they checked oil levels etc said all was ok, thought might be a faulty oil warning switch. Three days later on A40 engine seized, towed to Landrover dealers in oxford who have said cam seized up, top half and bottom half all mangled up, dont know why seized could be any number of things blocked oil feed or oil pump. Now waiting for brand new engine from landrover. Old one had done 9000 miles on a march 08 plate.

Have Disco 3 as replacement, been pleased with landrovers over all help.

Just thought i would let every body know.

Mark

Welcome to the forum and thanks for letting us know your experience with the car

Obviously the LRA came out and checked the oil and said this were fine,

I recently read over on Disco3 about a seized engine, and the chap said he hadn't check his oil since the last service which was something like 3000 miles ago. LR are saying the engine seized due to lack of oil and due to his confession they are not paying for the new engine Shocked

I would make sure your telling them you continually checked it (which i would have done) due to the light coming on to be on the safe side of LR warranty.

Hope things get sorted as soon as possible, but the D3 is a nice car to have whilst they do Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Dear npinks

Thats exactly the reason why i called out LRA, when i spoke to the operator she said it should be okay to still drive it, but i insisted they send some one out to cover my arse, glad i did. Apart from the engine great car to drive and now with no engine a true green low carbon 4 x 4

Its a shame this happened to Glendale, but I'm sure if you trawl the forums for any make of car there will be odd instances of catstrophic failure like this.

If it does happen then what really counts is how the dealer/manufacturer deals with you.

I'm sure even the most 'supposed' reliable Japanese manufacturers have this happen. I wont loose any sleep because somoeone has experienced such a failure, I just hope the dealer offers the appropriate level of support. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

All FL2's imported to Norway from 2007 ca. July do in fact have a DPF, so I would have thought UK versions would have the same as this is not an extra add on Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
