Loan Car costs

I'm keen to understand peoples experiences with obtaining loan cars from LR dealers while their car is in for servicing or repairs.

Mine is booked in for the P014 recall work next week and LR said they will charge me £20 to cover fully comp insurance on the loan car. This is new to me my previous cars where Audis and BMWs and I've never been charged anything.

Is this normal?

ps, dealer is Town & County, Aberdeen TD4, HSE, Santorini Black, SS side protection tubes, clear side repeaters, chrome wing mirror covers

Doesn't your own insurance cover you for a loan car Question Question

T&C have never charged me anything before for a loan car.......are they really that short of money that they have to resort to this sort of charging Question ______________________

Down Under they are charging $40. I too have never been charged for a loan car. I told LR that if you charge me for a loan car i would take my business elsewhere.

They called it a good will gesture. Call it what you will, but i wont pay for a loan car any day of the week.

My insurance policy states that I can drive other cars but I would only be covered for 3rd party. T&C require fully comp. Rolling Eyes TD4, HSE, Santorini Black, SS side protection tubes, clear side repeaters, chrome wing mirror covers

I have heard of this before but it's bit cheeky especially in this current financial climate.... Rolling Eyes

Tell them no thanks you can get a loan car free at 'the other LR garage you use.
You will probably get the cheery reply of "Oh ok then, bye!"

Confused

Yep, mines like that too but if it's for service/repair at authorised dealer then I'm covered fully comp.

Which insurance company Question mines Land Rover Insurance which might be why its different, but as Snappa says, its a bit cheeky of them. For what its worth, I'd sit and wait whilst its being done, should only take an hour according to Land Rover. Confused ______________________

I get paid by the hour so it would be cheaper to pay the £20.

My insurance is through Swiftcover TD4, HSE, Santorini Black, SS side protection tubes, clear side repeaters, chrome wing mirror covers

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Yes I have experienced this, the dealer was at pains to point out the charge was for insurance, the car was being offered for free.

The first time the charge was mentioned they got away with it because they couldn't supply a loan car when my car was off the road for a week, they introduced to me a local car hire company where I had to ALL the charges up front.

The second time they tried to charge me I told them I'd never paid for anything for a loan car before, following a quick call to the fleet office the request for the charge was dropped.

The most recent use of a loan car, just a few weeks ago, nothing was even mentioned about a charge. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
