United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Alaska White
Independant in Birmingham

My Freelander 2 is now four years old (27000 miles).
I'm looking for an independent Land Rover specialist in Birmingham.
Failing any recommendations I think I will have the servicing done by the main dealer, but every other year due to it's low mileage.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Tigerbob. The closest Indy I can recommend isn’t Birmingham but it’s not far for you. Infield 4x4 at Ashby are very good. Mines been a few times now and will be going again in a few weeks.

For anything to do with the transmission got to Bell as they are close enough. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

Tigerbob - I would recommend Martin Buckland - DJBuckland Motor Engineers on Birmingham Road in Sutton - Whilst he's not a specialist, He's very good and has a FL2 himself - and has helped me out on a number of occasions when the main dealer has failed. I've used both the main dealer and him for years.

When I had my previous FL1's, he dismantled it whilst I took the IRD and VCU to Bell Engineering, then zipped it all back up again when I bought the parts back, so quite flexible.
He also has all the electronic toys for fault diagnosis.
His only problem is he's usually really busy!

Good luck.

not always, I changed the VCU through Bell on my first FL1 and IRD/rear diff were fine for another 40k miles until the gearbox was on its way. 3rd gear slipping on the Jatco auto box which apparently was common. This was at 110k miles.
