I ask because I tried and couldn't. It's in the service schedule but it's a difficult job.

I've done it on loads of other diesels but it's near impossible on the FL2.

So if anyone has successfully drained the filter via the Allen keyed screww at the top of the filter then please let us know.[/code] Jules

Impossible task Jules and thankfully in UK most fuel is now not contaminated so I just stick with schedule of change and save knocking of the skin on your knuckles. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I agree it's impossible to do with the filter on the car. I bet garages/dealerships don't bother to do it even though it's part of the scheduled maintenance. Jules

The stupid thing is it's meant to be done at A & B services but the filter is also supposed to be changed at the B service! Makes no sense to me. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

The A&B Service sheet lists this under “Vehicle Exterior” rather than “Under Bonnet”, so I was assuming that there is an additional line-filter/sedimentor built into the fuel line, further back between the engine bay and the fuel tank...

Can someone confirm that no such beast exists?

EDIT: Although it also lists the replace fuel filter in the same list, which makes little sense either  2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Im sure the fuel filter is not specific to the FL2 and maybe in other vehicles it is more accessible for draining.
Even so the LR service schedule make no sense.
Somebody on this forum probably works with or knows LR mechanics- it would be interesting to know if this item in the service list is ever done. Jules
