I have run hid kits in two golfs for 10 years between them, never failed an mot, never get flashed, and would never go back to halogen.
Picked up my 2013 fl2 on Friday, came home in dark and rain , my god those lights are cr**
so HID kit install time, watched a few videos of headlight removal, look a pleasure of a job after the golf.
So the questions, will anybody admit to doing it on dip beam, will it all fit behind the cover? are the discharge tubes OK behind the non standard bulb retainer?
I'm amazed there isn't a single video on you tube! or diy guide
and yes they are projector headlamps

I fitted a set to my 2014. I manged to get the whole kit self contained in the head light unit itself. Still looking for an LED alternative but none of them fit within the back plate.

I was initially concerned about heat but a 35W kit runs cooler than Halogen overall - so no biggy.

Agreed, heat especialy on the 35 watt units is no issue as they run way cooler than halogen, its basic therodynamics!! more of the energy is converted to light
the only part that looked different was the unusual way of holding the bulb in place. I will order a kit and do a tutorial on fitment.

Yes they are, you will have to excuse my ignorance, having only had the car for a few days. so how does that work?
is it a shield over half the bulb that rotates to move the beam pattern, going from dip to high, or does it retract going from dip to dip plus high?
Or some other cunning method?

well not a good start, i used a few web sites that you put your reg in, it identifies your car (correctly) and lists your bulbs (H7)

Fantastic result, time taken about an hour
35 watt 5000k xenon, beam pattern is perfect
the kit has very fast start up time, fast enough to be able to flash people with a pull of the stalk

Washers and self levelling are only needed to be working on cars with HID lights to pass the MOT if fitted.  Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I have used hid kits on 3 cars now, currently own 2, i must have had over 15 mot's all passed, with kit in and working. I did nearly fail the last mot for not having a postcode on my number plates !
