Australia 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
40th Birthday Present

Ordered my Freelander 2 about six months ago and the delivery date just happened to co-incide with my 40th birthday yesterday Very Happy . Pretty good birthday present even if I had to buy it myself. Not that I'm complaining, the vehicle looks fantastic and drives beautifully. Had a Mitsubishi Challenger before this which was a good vehicle however the Freelander is a cut above in all aspects.
It must have been one of the first Freelanders with the Almond interior as the dealer hadn't seen it before. The colour is a bit more neutral than Alpaca however it looks good with the Stornoway Grey and tinted windows Thumbs Up.

CG, looking at the steering column which are black, on all FL2, the dash is a lighter colour

Lighter black is often referred to a been Grey Rolling Eyes

and my alpaca leather has a blueish coloured dash Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Very nice photos - however the colour looks VERY much like Alpaca to me Confused So much so that I would put money on it Embarassed
The photos of Almond leather that have been posted earlier look "a darker shade of pale" more brownish in tone Whistle . 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

When I ordered the vehicle the dealer said that the Alpaca was being discontinued and the Almond was it's replacement. I was a little dissapointed when he told us this as I had seen the Alpaca in the yard and in the brochures however I had a feeling it would look ok when it arrived 6 months later.
The Almond is only slightly different to the Alpaca with the Alpace having a slight lean towards yellow whereas the Almond is more neutral if that makes any sense. The wood trim is new as well and it is being called Dark Laurel I think.
With regards to the dash I think the refected light from the sky may be affecting the photos. It looks pretty black to me with perhaps a slight lean towards a charcoal grey however I believe it is the same as all Freelander 2's. You can have any colour you like as long as it's black.

This is true. I ended up getting an 08 with Alpaca, but they had an 09 there too that I was looking at.

I wanted Black leater but they didn't have black on black and it would be awhile until they did and I didn't want to wait. The Alpaca has actually grown on me.
