2012 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

Stick on dash trim question

Hi all. I have been looking for the aluminium trim but they are at stupid prices but the wood effect one seem cheaper. Those who have one is it plastic with a wood transfer on it. I am thinking of getting a wood look and spraying it in aluminium, just want to know if a simple sand down would work or just get messy. Marto GS Sd4 2012
