I'm not naming who this rant is about just yet, but my F2 was in a main stealers for some warranty work two weeks ago, and when I collected I was told my rear discs and pads had less than 1000 miles left on them, and they needed changing.
Being OTT when it comes to safety, I booked it in there and then and was quoted over £300 for the work. Got home, checked my paperwork from the MOT and Stealers Safety Check report from Feb, and the rear disc and brakes were given a green tick in their check.
I've had all the brakes checked at a local Indy, and they reported all my brakes and pads were serviceable, and none were close to needing changing, and that no work was required at all.

I've emailed a complaint to the Stealers, but silence.....

Sounds like a "normal" approach from main dealers to extract as much cash as possible from you. It's a pretty standard approach and you'd be surprised how many times they get away with it and that's exactly why they do it. Service departments have "targets" aswell.
Sounds like you've done the smart, logical thing of getting a second opinion, wouldn't bother complaining just steer clear of them. MY15

GS Sheffield once tried to charge me 45 quid for fitting a new rear wiper which had "seized" quick squirt with WD40 made it good as new.

I would expect a reply in a 7-10 WORKING days (so not Saturday or Sunday) which may initially just be a 'we have received your correspondence and will look into it'

however I think every dealer will try and recommend extra work, in order to help their profit margins. Pretty much every time ive been to LR main dealers over the years they have advised that brakes needed doing... only once did I agree with them but I went to a trusted indy to have them done.

I've used TVLR for many years and they have never once recommended extra work.

so because the warranty company will only pay the dealer 50% of the standard labour rate (£120 p/h IIRC) they are looking to recover labour costs on the haldex by chargeable work like brakes
