Julienne that is an example of exactly what NOT to do with your vehicle. I know this thread is now over half a year old but I'm hoping you get a notification...

The reason there are so many bollards and rocks and logs covering places that used to be open to vehicles is because of actions like yours. We are in different countries but the situation is the same...

You drove up a set of steps intended for foot traffic. I didn't notice any obvious damage done to the steps, but there was ample opportunity for bad things to happen... For example loosening the logs or even flicking them out. Certainly your passage won't have helped the edge area be stable.

Authorities see that happen, or have to repair the steps, and they firm up their intention to keep 4wd vehicles out of their forests and the bush and the beaches.

I understand and encourage the desire to test your vehicle and your driving skills... but for gawd sake do it in places more suited than picnic area log steps. Land Rover used to have a campaign they called 'Tread Lightly' where they advocated getting off road without doing damage to the beauty and landscape you'd come to visit. Nothing wrong with plowing through mud or charging up sand dunes.... just do it where it's been done before and where you are not degrading the landscape.

That video was your early driving, possibly the only time you risked the 4wd community reputation... I hope so. No offence intended.. just hoping to give you a different point of view.

And to answer your question... yes turn DSC off when you are hill climbing.
