United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

Rome: spent many nights there, ( mainly working during the days, but got the odd one off) fabulous place. The metro line is very good for getting around. The Colliseum is awesome in the real sense of the word. When you stand on the steps looking at how small the arena is and wonder at what went on .. The prices of hotels and restaurants in the city centre are high but using the metro can put you not too far out in reasonable priced accommodation, but along with many other great Italian cities such as Milan and Turin, Bologna the suburbs can be IMO scruffy and dirty, but don't get hung up on it, that's just how it is.

Personally I would think a week would be too long there but you could split it with a beach holiday. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Firenze Red

Went in June this year and had a fantastic week. The people mainly speak English and friendly

and is a very safe place at all times of the day. A trip to Capri and the Amalfi coast is stunning.

Vesuvius, Pompeii and Herculaneum are all close by and well worth a visit.

Enjoy your trip

Sorrento is Fab.
Down a little alley of the main square is a restaurant called "the meat eating place"
Fab wine and food. often full of Americans.
Doesnt look much from the outside but once you have been you will keep going back.
you get the odd bad review but you will never please everyone

Another vote for Sorrento - the local train running along the coast from Sorrento to Naples is a great way to get to Pompeii, Herculano etc without taking on the local drivers! Another good trip is to take train to Stabilo and ride up on the cable car to the ridgeline above - stunning views over to Naples, Capri etc and nice to get away from crowds sometimes with a rather nice woodland walk up to the sanctuary. There also used to be a 4x4 bus that went up the side of Vesuvius - trips went from just outside Pompei station - we did it as a birthday treat for my daughter - great fun and gets you to withing a couple of hundred metres of the caldera. FL No 1 - 2012 (MY2011) XS manual Firenze Red - Gone
