Ha ha ha I do actually understand the difference between chrome and stainless steel, I was actually commenting more on the effect ie the amount of shine. As we are all aware stainless steel by nature isn't naturally a high shine material, whereas chrome is, so the stainless is polished to look like chrome for a visual effect but with the longevity of stainless steel. As again we are all aware chrome is just a plating on a material and not actually a metal in its own right. So my take on it really is a colour preference, if it shines it's due to people wanting a "chrome effect" with the longevity and strengths of other materials.
