Rear Cargo cover rattles

2008 LR2 cargo cover rattle.
Has anyone experience the rear cargo rattle when the cover is open (covering area)? Ours does not rattle when closed and when removed there are no noises. The dealer keeps changing out the covers and each cover starts to rattle over time. Any advice or fixes will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I don't get any rattles on mine

It it the spring rattling or were it clips in to the rear trim Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The noise is not coming from where it clips into the trim. By spring, you mean the area right behind the rear seat on the passenger side then yes the noise comes form that area.

Thanks

It sounds to me like the mechinism that retracts the cover back in is rattling, or it could the the retaining clips, as they are spring loaded too

I haven't looked, but look to see if it could be disassembled to spray some silicone lube in to it Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have an annoying rattle from my luggage cover, the noise only occurs when the cover is extended. So when driving I leave the cover retracted (into it the housing) Whenever I park the car up with stuff in the back I have to remember to then extend the cover to keep the stuff covered and out of site.

I’m on my second complete cover assembly, the spring mechanism fell apart on the first one so it was replaced under warranty. Strange thing is the problem has been exactly the same on both covers.

Its annoying having to remember to slide the cover when there is stuff in the back, but I guess that’s life. Also with 45k miles on the clock there are other rattles/noises developing so I’m having to become more tolerant towards noises now. Stornoway Grey GS ... Was there ever any resolution to this?

Hi,

Er..first post here (long time lurker). I bought a FL2 almost a year ago. I love it.
It's been back to the dealer for a few things but there's one problem I cannot get fixed. The rear luggage cover rattles.
I was wondering if anyone had actually found a solution for it.
I'm not sure if it's the internal spring mechanism or the cover moving in it's anchor points. I often find that if I take the cover out and put it back in again, the rattle is gone for a while but eventually comes back.
Avtur, did you ever get to the bottom of it?

I've put a similar thread on the General forum.

..to see if it gets a response.
