Cheers The wax finish will hold nicely if I just continue to wash with the Autoglym shampoo and that lambswool wash mitt rather than letting the local Polish car wash put the swirls back

Very impressed with the wash mitt because like an idiot, I dropped it on the yard but the grit easily washed off in the rinsing bucket. Old school sponges would have had the grit well and truly lodged in. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Definitely greatly improved. Did you leave long between the resin polish and the wax coat?

for slightly deeper scratches, I've used scratch x before the SRP with some success.

There's a few country roads with overgrowing bushes that I regularly drive on, and sometimes with an oncoming car I have to go closer to the hedge that I'd like and pick up branch scratches on my wing mirror and side panels. Scratch X then SRP and they magically vanish  FL2 2011 SD4 XS in Galway Green

The latest SRP that creates less dust has a lot less cut in it but more fillers which hide the marks which is why I sugest using the Paint Renovator first. I have been using the G3 Paint Renovator & find it very nice. You can get that in Halfords. You can apply SRP over the top & then a wax followed by a sealant if required. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Interesting...how does the G3 paint renovator compare to megs scratch x? Is it more aggressive?

I find scratch x decent, but quite hard work applying manually. Is g3 paint renovator easier...or does it need to be machine applied? FL2 2011 SD4 XS in Galway Green

I've just done my FL2 with G3 renovator and it seemed very good, took out a couple of branch scratches with some effort but otherwise was fairly easy, then waxed with G3 Resin Superwax.

The only problem I got some of the renovator on some of the textured black plastic, anyone have any ideas on how to get this off?

I've never used the Scratch X so can't comment. I have use the Resin Superwax & that is lovely stuff. If you get the renovator on rubber try just rubbing it with a microfiber cloth. white spirit helps too. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Well, having been driving all weekend in heavy rain and down some dusty roads when it did dry out, the car looked like it had been off roading! Having washed it today with the pressure washer and autoglym shampoo with the wash mitt and of course the 2 bucket method, it has retained its glorious shine from the wax!

I am going to make a call to a guy I know and have used for many years to check out the deeper scratches though. Armed with his machine polisher and some paint if needed, he will sort it. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Right, opinions on this guys please. The bloke I know has been out with his machine polisher and some paint and done all the scratches and even stone chips for me and it looks great

I now have 2 choices when washing it tomorrow. I can either use some of the Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine Polish which is for darker colour cars and is all in one so it does not need waxing afterwards or I can just wax it with the Autoglym HD wax that I have also got.

I was thinking the latter would be better as he has just polished with the machine. Any thoughts?

I'd go with the HD wax .
