Does a normal set of roof bars fit a glazed roof? I have seen these on EBay and I have nothing to do with the seller. You could then shove a bike rack on them.

You can tow with a MaxxRaxx fitted. Good bit of kit, very solid.

I use a set of Prorack Whispbars on my HSE. No problem with the sunroof. Thule also do their versions. IIRC you do need to check for fitting to sunroof or non-sunroof cars. Do a search on here for Prorack and you will find a few threads about sunroof problems with certain fittings. Here's one: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic11814.html Also, I believe the Prorack fittings have changed since mine were made. Check with the "The Roofbox Co" who are the suppliers.

Roof rails? Or roof bars?!

True, the OP did refer to rails but in the context I believe he was referring to bars. The expensive route is certainly to fit fore & aft rails then fit bars to those. However, it is more than twice as expensive as fitting removable bars when needed.
