2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black
Farewell Freelander

60k miles and 3 years later, we say farewell to my wife's trusty Freelander. Big Cry It has been a brilliant car and loved every minute of owning it. If they still made them we would buy another.

But as they don't - we spent the last few weeks visiting dealers and looked at various options - X1, x3, q3, vitara, Discovery sport, Mercedes gla and glc and a very ugly Honda CR-V.

Final decision? We collect our new evoque hse dynamic this weekend... Mr. Green I know I know we knock the evoque but it was the only car my wife liked - and at least we've stuck with the brand. Yes not a like for like replacement but I'm not sure one exists other than perhaps the discovery sport and that was deemed to big.

Wish us luck! Thumbs Up (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc
(Going) 2013 TD4 GS Auto - Santorini Black with black leather. Cold Climate, UK Lighting & Armrest Packs. Privacy Glass. LR Rubber Mats. Full size spare.
60 000 miles averaging 35mpg

(Gone) 2010 TD4 Manual GS - Stornoway Grey. Sold at 3yrs old & 64k miles. Final average consumption 39.2mpg.

I can fully understand flyir.
I have had test drive in Discovery Sport and Evoque and BY FAR the better driving position is the Evoque. Discovery Sport does nothing for me at all.
Well named the DS, which is a Citroen Brand, as they are renowned for building out of the ordinary vehicles. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Not while I still have a decent pinion bearing in my rear end.

The F-Pace looks ok but would likely also qualify as 'too big' since it looks to be ds size. That said I may look at that in a couple of years time when I replace my own car since I am happy to drive something bigger. (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc

Yep, agree with you Mostyn. I've never been on a more usefull and welcoming forum. Most members want to help, add some humour, etc.

Babyrr.com is just as good Thumbs Up

The Evoque is a nice car to drive especially in dynamic spec with the dynamic setting on TR on twisty back roads. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Totally agree. I lurked around the X-Trail users site when I thought I was going to get one of them. Not a patch on here.

And last night I had a good look at the Kuga forum seeing as I am getting one. They closed down the 'new users introduce yourself' section. Certainly hasnt got the wealth of knowledge that I have grown a customed to on here to help relieve my non mechanical brain

Of course one could argue that if cars were reliable then there would be no need for a forum like this. Or perhaps it says something about LR owners and masochism? Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

One could say that people moving to the Evoque are dominated by their partners Neutral

I have found all the forums I have been on are populated by good types of folk. I been on Volvo and Alfa Romeo for years, even went on Vauxhall forum when my daughter had one. They are a wonderful invention, if that is the correct term, as you say cameraderie in abundance and one is never alone, the fault you have now somebody has had it before, and fixed it!

"One could say that people moving to the Evoque are dominated by their partners".

A load of old cobblers! I wear the trousers in my house - my wife said I could!

On a serious note, although my wife likes the way the Evoque drives and handles etc, she doesn't like the image that she thinks goes with 'em. She reckons to fit in with the car she should be 30 years younger, have an orange tan, bleached blonde hair, artificially whitened teeth and pink lipstick. She thinks they are too showy and still misses our FL2. I must admit (and I'm always commenting on the Evoque forums I go on), they seem to be a girly car which is why I went for a Black Dynamic Lux model with factory tints. It's a bit more Grrrrr! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
