Can I track a new build on line?

Just agreed to buy Disco Sport- dealer says build is by 1 April but expect by end of March .
Is it possible to 'track' the build on line? if yes - how?

That tells a story I would have thought - usually up to 6 - 8 months delivery time on popular motors or am I living in the past. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
