Tire fittment question.

Hello,
We are new to the site. We are picking up our 2008 HR2 this week. After doing a little reading it seems as though the continnental tires on the 19" rims are not that great for winter driving so we were considering a change.

Do you guys think the the Wrangler tires from the LR3 - 255 55 19 will fit on the 19" rims from the LR2. There is a minimal difference in rolling diameter.

Thanks!

Hi welcome to the forum

I have not had my FL2 in anything deep enough that you canadians will call snow,

On the light dusting my wranglers handled pretty well, also was good on the mud too

I'm sure another member in the snowy parts will step up and give you the correct advice Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

My advice would be to maintain 2 sets of wheels and tires. For myself I've made the decision to have a separate set of winter wheels 16" rim with 225/70 studded tires (might not be legal in every country). !6" aftermarket aluminum rims are cheaper than the tires you put on. At least in Sweden the rims will look like crap anyway after a seasaon of mixed snow, sand and salt.

Thanks for the replies...

I would prefer to stick it out with the stock 19" rims, specially since this is a lease and we are not sure if we will be keeping this beyond the lease term.

Does anyone know if the 255 55 19 tires will fit on the OEM 19" LR2 HSE wheels?

I'm not sure if they would fit on the stock 19" rims of the LR2, but I don't think it would be a good idea to put a tire with a width of 255 on a rim taht normally takes 235. You might get some rubbing on the inside when turning your wheel.

As Brasco says I think there may be issues with tyre rubbing with just simply putting wider tyres on. Normally the offset of the rim changes slightly to componsate for wider tyres.

255 wide tyres will fit under the arches, but you need to ahve teh right rim I think. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!
