Nice. I just wrapped the hole in black tape to hide it away on mine. I painted the white electrical socket cap too.

According the towing supplement in MY13 you can increase to 250 kgs but you have to reduce the GVW by 100 kgs & maximum speed of a 100 km/h

Yes, that's correct. The class 3 Australian tow hitch has far greater capacity than the Freelander 2 is rated to tow. It's limited to GVM and rear axle load. So obviously if you have an unloaded vehicle then a greater mass can be towed up until the GVM and rear axle load limits. MY15

Aah! Ok! Where do you get those? Never seen it. Is it a LR part? Got a part no? Bahahahahaha, I believe Lightwater answered that question. ![]() They just unscrew and can be swapped. Horses for courses. I prefer the look of it removed. But the #1 reason I took ours off was to save my shins.
Dear Sir, would you be so kind as to share a source for these socket covers. They do not seem to be available in this country. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers 2009 Jaguar XKR 4.2 S/C Portfolio 2005 Jaguar XJR 4.2 S/C Black/Cranberry 2005 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L AWD - Gone |

Every single LR in our family has a fixed towbar. I've never hit my shins on one yet till date. Dunno what you boys do down under |

I have hit me shin at full stride on a tow bar in New Zealand many years ago. The tow bars over there stick out further than ours. Maybe it's to make up for shortfalls in other departments. Anyway, I doubled over in pain for more than an hour, and I can cope with pain fairly well. Managed to get some ice from a shop which helped to some degree with the pain and also quickly took 4 Aspalgin, double what one should take but that was the strongest pain killer I could get my hands on. Still have an indentation in the shin. By comparison hitting your thumb with a hammer is enjoyable, and I have done that a couple of times, once semi passing out losing sight and seeing stars for 10 minutes, loss of hearing and balance but fully conscious! I will put it bluntly. All cars with non removable tow bars should be destroyed! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
