I think because you didn't do it in an official LR garage. So beware because there is also an haldex update software that is related to your problem. This is a common issue with the Freelander II and was fixed after the last VIN I've mentioned in my other post. I spent months doing researches about it before I bought my car and made sure it was outside the concerned VIN series. So now I'm the specialist for haldex/diff issues on freel2.com   | ||

 Tim To be precise, the update is available for haldex's IV generation (which you have I think). See SSM46057 Freelander 2 TD4 S / Santorini black / Genuine factory GPS with Bluetooth phone connection / Front and Rear parking aids | ||

He told me likely to be the diff and would need replacing as they don't repair - cost £1200 (strangely he said that's for third party part and not an LR part).
