How often can / should i clay the car?

I find that i get a real bad build up of cr*p on the paint work and am having to clay the car about once every 2 months in order to achieve the 'glass' feel to the paint work...
Now is this to frequent and is there a chance i am damaging the paint work by excessive claying? I'm using Meguiars Clay Bar and quick detail spray...

Cheers Stevea

(PS it always amazes me the amount Censored claying is able to remove from the paint work... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 2008 SE, HSE wheels, Black Premium Leather, Privacy Glass, Sports Kit, Side Steps, various LED upgrades and Clear side indicators.

I do not think that claying with the Megiuars clay bar will damage the paint, as no abrasives are contained in the clay bar. But it is a lot of work....!
Better to my experience is applying Liquid Glass to the paint, a polymer which compounds with the clear coat and which gives a mirror like and long lasting gloss. Liquid Glass does not wear like wax, and you can add additional films on top of each other. Liquid Glass recommends 3 films as a start for care-free protection, and an annual fresh-up of one film. The dealer who sells Meguiars should also sell Liquid Glass, as both products are top of the line.

As YF say you won't damage the paint, unless you drag a large piece of grit around it

I gave may car clay and then a machine polish, just using Auto Glym Super Resin polish

I sealed the car with Collinite 476s wax, and it still feels smooth, and this was layer on twice, so should see me through the winter now

Claying the car will remove any protective product from the body work taking it back to the bear lacquer Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

try turtle wax 'wax it wet' it helps remove water marks after each wash and builds up a decent layer of polish Thumbs Up At work
