Australia 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green

I did glean this from LRO:

The final Freelander was an Aintree Green Metropolis spec example that left the Halewood factory to a low-key internal celebratory send-off, and will be displayed at the Heritage Motor Centre museum in Gaydon. (7th October 2014)[/quote]

Nice that the last Freelander 2 off the line and to be displayed in the museum is a good LR colour Thumbs Up but I'm alittle bias Laughing and that I got one of the last in that batch, phew! Very Happy
And whilst my ownership is still in months I'm loving it even more now if that's possible!

Having read the previous posts, I am now a tad concerned about my recent - two weeks ago - purchase of a 64 reg Metropolis with 7800 miles on it. I was told that it was an ex-LandRover car by the salesman, and that was the reason - so he said - that it didn't have the floormats in (they take them out on LR vehicles he said) For a nine month old car the interior was scruffy to say the least when I viewed it - just signs that it hadn't been cleaned or properly looked after by one caring owner, so now after reading the earlier posts I am beginning to suspect it was a rental. (I bought a Disco II as ex LR several years ago and that by comparison was absolutely immaculate at six months old and 12000 miles.)

The dealers cleaned it up to quite a high standard and other than that everything else seems ok and the bodywork/paintwork is fine, however, it is going in tomorrow for an annoying squeak and rattle coming from behind the headlining near the volumetric alarm sensor, and a non-operational key fob - which is not the battery, it looks to have been dropped as it is chipped and scratched, a lot more than you would expect for nine months and 7000 mile use.

I haven't got the V5 from the DVLA yet so don't know who it was registered to previously and didn't think to ask the dealer after he said it was a LandRover car!

I will wait and see what happens, but after reading previous posts and after paying 31K it's not the best of starts for ownership of a vehicle I want to keep for four or five years. Mind you, as it's a LR Approved vehicle I have the 30 day / 1000 mile Conditional Vehicle Exchange Agreement if that's worth the paper it's written on!

If, when the v5 is returned,it doesn't have LANDROVER as the first keeper, you can return the vehicle as I did, because the dealer had not told you the previous keeper was a Rental company ("misleading omission" ,Office of Fair Trading guidance)

Hi Tulgey,
Annoying squeak from head lining by volumetric, I had that in my Metropolis, it is where the light fitting-fitting attaches, it hadn't been pushed in fully on production, a very simple fix, do not let them take down the head lining as it is fixed at source- which dealer are you going to?
took mine to Knutsford- done in 5 mins.
Enjoy your metropolis- nothing finer, at 7000 miles surely not too much damage can have been done, key will get replaced is my guess- just enjoy- had many ex-rental cars in my time- nothing wrong with them.
thanks Hit it he said, Hit it!--So I hit it, then he hit me---Doh!

The registration O- indicates some form of leasing vehicle, there must be some genuine private registrations , but JLR Nissan and Audi use Oxford for lease and Hartwell is usually the supplier. the number of "O" prefixes must outnumber most other prefixes

I work near the JLR engine plant and see a large number of Range Rovers, discoveries and Jags that I take are driven by management. The all have O*64 plates on them. I guess if you go to Solihull or Whitley you will see the same.

My car is O* 14 *** and has the Landrover mark on the number plate as well as their post code. On the satnav was large number of JLR sites. I have a new style V 5 and cannot see the former owner, or number of owners that you'd see on the older V5s.

Is it possible that the cars are bought through a fleet company, rather than JLR having to manage it themselves?

Gav.

Even if mine is former rental reg starts OU64 and other posts on here suggest that the cars are kept by rental companies to fulfill Landrover warranty assist requests then it was immaculate when I bought it. It is Ivory Windsor leather and all original mats in black and cream to match black steering wheel and dashboard were in the car and spotless. Freelander 2 Metropolis 64 in Loire Blue with Ivory Windsor Leather. The point that these vehicles are sold through BCA is true, but you can't bid or buy there, these auctions are closed, the bidders are LR agencies or authorised garages by LR, by authorised, ex dealers that still have a LR service accreditation but no longer sell new vehicles my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

There is a difference between rental cars and cars operated by rental companies on behalf of the manufacturer, a genuine rental car will have a registration area to a local main distributor as opposed to main dealer. O* registrations do tend to belong to manufacturers in a roundabout way and have strict limitations, these cars will only be sold as used via manufacture dealers. Though damaged ones needing heavy remedial work will not be in these auctions, any work carried out either warranty or damage is recorded on the cars history the dealer has access to. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

You have to wonder why BCA describe the cars as "ex Landrover" and some "ex rental "
( if you look on BCA auction site for closed sales)
