Just in case anyone was wondering what I went for, well here it is.
Aluminium roof rack, roof bag sat on Thule roof bars. Panoramic sun roof still worked fine with this lot on the roof. Total cost was about £270. I was well happy with it, the roof bag is massive and can fit loads in it, and I got my tent on the roof as well.
