Does anybody know how to remove the tailgate handle on an older model Freelander 2?

I'm looking to remove this Gray bit at the back to spray it Black and I wanted to get it off the car to avoid any overspray any Links, help, hints or tips would be gratefully appreciated!

Open tailgate, remove screws with torque drive located in the trim handle cut out, give the trim a sharp tug to remove, you will be able to see the fixing nuts that fix the tailgate handle, I think there are six? Use 10mm socket. From the outside gently pull handle towards you, remove wiring grommet and disconnect wiring plug.

The tailgate suffers with corrosion with this type of handle due to movement when lifting tailgate, the foam they use is very soft and disintergrates, I cleaned all of the old foam off with solvent and replaced it with draft excluder which is much denser, it compresses when you refit and gives a firmer feel.

Don't forget you will have to open the tailgate from your remote when it closes.
