For me the tubes look better whereas the steps look too bulky buts its my personal opinion. Not sure about the chrome mirror covers though |

What is the point of fitting the side tubes |

tubes protect the underneath of the car / car sills when off roading too as they are set lower than the car itself |

Or do they just get in the way when off-roading? In any case any damage to the rubber/plastic side covers on the bottom of the door/sills can easliy be replaced. If the damage is greater I dont think tubes would help much |

Yes they do rub on the crest of a hill sometimes, but i would rather have that and the occassional need for a little paint on them, than ripping off the plastic trim and scratching it on the the ground.

Side tubes also act as an extended mud flap keeping your shiny paint work clean, I learnt this from the standard tubes fitted to my pickup so decided to fit tubes on my FL2 |

They also play a nice musical tune when you drive down a gravel track, so if they are deflecting stones its also less marks on the side of the car too |
