Movement in Drivers Seat

At first I thought it was me because when speeding up or slowing down i felt as though the drivers seat was moving ever so slightly. Anyway when I parked up tonight I sat in the seat and held the base of the seat and moved back and forth and there was movement. I tried the same procedure in the passenger seat and that is rock solid. Bit concerning, if its moving slightly now what would it be like in a emergency stop??? 'ANOTHER' trip to the dealers I think, anyone else had similar problems? Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Not had problem in my two FL's but the one I borrowed from dealer had this problem. I can remember seeing a thread about it somewhere. As you say, trip to the stealers should sort. If you can find the thread then you have some evidence to show them

I have the same problem with mine. Seems to be something related to the seat's internal mechanism and during my last visit to the dealer they mentioned that too, but haven't fixed yet. Maybe it can only be solved by changing the whole seat. Shocked

Let me know if you find a better way to solve this issue... Thumbs Up

Hi,
My FL2 went in for its 15k service. I also asked them to have a look at the Drivers Seat, I have to keep pumping it up to my driving position (yes i'm a shorty) and after a while (weeks) it seem to go down again.
They have said its a fault with the Seats and LR know about it and the parts are on order.

Sounds like you have 'manual' seats like me, I assume that because you say 'pumping it up'. I have the same problem, in fact my drivers seat can drop halfway in a half hour journey, though it is very dependent on the type of roads I drive on. I always drive with my seat at its highest (I'm not that short, I just like the view!!)

This is quite an interesting problem because it sounds as though it is common to both manual and electric adjustable seats, very strange. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

when in my drivers seat i can wobble the base and there is some movement, tried it in the passenger seat and it is rock solid! Going to the dealer soon to have a fourth attempt and playing 'find the knock' so will ask about it then. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

My seat does the same - Drops down overnight or on particularly long journeys.

Never really thought about it and just accepted "thats what it does" as there's little else to complain about regarding my FL2, but if it's a known fault I will ask for it to be looked at during the 15k service next week.

Thanks - Yet another example of the value of this forum Thumbs Up FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

Went into the dealers today. Service Dept rang me to say that the movement in the drivers seat is 'normal' and doesnt occur on the passenger seat because the drivers seat is a 'special one' ahhhhh great, thats reassuring!!!! What the Censored is a special seat????
