Under the bonnet, using the vertical adjuster, lined up against a wall, vehicle on a flat surface, I looked at the beam pattern and marked on the wall the initial setting, then adjusted them with an Allen key, tiny adjustment makes a big difference, I will get them checked at service but the beam profile is now better and not getting flashed.
If you undo the two 10mm bolts the whole lamp will move, if this has been done to change a lamp, it is possible that the setting will be out when re fitted. Find a big car park and see how the beam behaves, cover up one lamp to blank it off.

Cheers Taz, I'll have a play and see if I can adjust - if not I'll get them looked at its next service - on that note do you know a good Indy in North Lancashire? I'm originally from Leeds and use Green Oval in Leeds but it would be good to find someone closer to home. Current 2008 Freel2 HSE

I use the LR garage at Garstang, car is leased through them with a service package.

I have used in the past and they still get good reviews on D3, kmotors in Preston.

Cheers Taz I'll look them up, but really want to find someone in Kendal or Lancaster area as Preston isn't that much closer than Leeds - it's maybe an extra 30mins further to Leeds Current 2008 Freel2 HSE

If you are one of those plonkers who always have headlights and fog lights on regardless of the fact that there is no fog then you will get full beam from me!
And by the way, having your fog lights on does not make the car go faster. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Road toad I never said anything about front fogs! I only use those in poor visibility conditions plus most of the time I don't need to use the fog lights anyway as the xenons do a good enough job anyway.

If I wasn't a considerate driver the pure fact that I was being flashed by other drivers wouldn't bother me and I wouldn't be asking if it was normal. Current 2008 Freel2 HSE

Fair comment, no offence intended, it is just something that riles me.
Back to the topic - you can certainly recognise the xenon equipped cars and I suppose that because they are so much brighter if they are not aligned exactly then they may well appear to 'dazzle' other drivers.
I think an earlier comment mentioned that he checked the headlight levelling switch and after lowering them slightly he was no longer flashed. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

I have always had Xenon headlights on all my cars, with the exception of once in my Astra, I have never once been flashed.

The only reason the Astra caused every driver to flash, is because I had just done the full conversion to Xenon, which included headlights, re-wiring, self levelling, headlamp wash etc, and I had not set them right. But this was soon sorted.

The thing I hate is when people add HID kits to standard headlights and then claim that they don't glare other drivers. They do glare, you can't avoid it! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Just nip into any local garage that has a beam tester (all that do an MOT will have one), it will be sorted in 15 minutes for a 'tenner'. I was getting flashed from new and took it to my mates, the beams were skyward and too the right straight from the factory.

On cars fitted with Xenons from new, they must have washers and a self levelling system and this must be tested during the MOT test. However, the key wording is 'if fitted it must work'. You cannot be failed for the headlamp levelling system not working if it is not fitted. Wink

It's always passed its not without any advisories but will run it into the nearest garge/test station to get it looked at, I did notice tonight that they did look to be pointing up.

That was after I had been flashed about 12 times in 1/2 mile tonight - I hadn't turned the Censored things on had I Rolling with laughter Current 2008 Freel2 HSE
