Limp mode

Engine system failure appeared on the dash and the car went into limp mode on the way back from the shops today. Anyone know what it could be? Will be Monday before it goes into the garage hopefully nothing too expensive !! United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Ipanema Sand

On another car I had it was simply the air flow meter, which had come apart from a hose due to a loose jubilee clip. Worth having a quick check of all pipes and clips. Unfortunately without OBD reader I doubt anyone could be sure of the cause. Hope it's nothing major. Thumbs Up

Little update

Broke down on 29 th and went into independent land rover specialist the next day. Phone call back a few hours later after been on the computer to say it requires a new throttle body. Nearest LR dealer didn't have one in stock so had to order one from taggerts in glasgow, but with it the festive period there would be no delivers until 5th jan.

Picked up the car today after work price for part labour and diagnostic check was £225 which I though was great wonder what the local LR dealer would have robbed me for ??? silver 59 xs privacy glass side steps sat nav

did you ask Main dealer for a quote?
good to hear you are back on the road.

2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Fuji White

I drove my MY10 Freelander 2 onto the drive last Friday and when I got in again it wouldn't start.
After recovery to an independent garage I use they diagnosed the throttle body. The motor gears had collapsed and stuck shut when I turned the car off and when trying to start the car again it failed due to no air.
The fault showed up on diagnostics and she they rang the local Land Rover dealer for the part they just said " oh yes that's common".
Got it back today and it runs great and a bit of a flat spot has also disappeared and as I had an extended warranty the insurance company paid Smile

Annoying as it was over the weekend but obviously a known fault. Never heard of that one before but I have had the pinion diff gear and the LHR wheel bearing go.

Other than that it's a great car and I am glad I took the extended warranty.
